Seeking the Creative: Beauvoire Jean-Charles, Painter
How would you describe your art in three words?
Bold, unapologetic, ruminative.
Where/how do you gather inspiration?
I gather inspiration from my day to day life and the emotions that go along with it, especially in the moments we find mundane.
What do you hope audiences retain from your work?
I hope my audiences can look at my work and feel as though they are seen. I want for the viewer to reflect upon their own life and help them not run away from complex emotions but instead live in them for the time they are with my piece.
Beauvoire Jean-Charles is a mixed media painter. “Throughout my life, I always had a peculiar sense of identity. With my diverse background, it was hard for me to use words to describe how I felt within society. As well as the harmful socially constructed relationships I saw take a toll on myself and others. This need I have within myself to explore all these different facets is where my pieces are born from”. Jean-Charles does not like to describe each of her works individually and rather her audience to interpret them for themselves without guidance.
