Seeking the Creative: Taio Sweet, Photographer & Ciara Flack, Editor
How would you describe your art in three words?
It’s real art.
Taio Sweet and Ciara Fleck are a dynamic duo where it comes to photography — two talented and motivated creatives who understand the higher value of an image. Photographer Taio hones in on his appreciation for culture and the people within it when taking an image. Taio found the true passion behind his craft a few years back when traveling across the country. Not only was he meeting new people, but he was learning new stories. He became inspired to showcase people in authentic lights that communicate with audiences a sense of humanity. He works alongside Ciara, the editor who strives to give the images a lasting impact. Just as a good editor should be, Ciara is conscious of the power a portrait holds for the subject at hand. She makes sure the image serves as a gift of representation and sentiment. Taio and Ciara take beautiful and captivating images, and know their photography will change the world.
Where/how do you gather inspiration?
Taio: I am 26 years old. I am still learning about the world so I don’t know what inspires me. I suppose I think about where I want to be. And who I want to be. I spent that majority of my teenage years traveling the country with lint and change in my pocket (more lint than change). I was able to experience the culture of everywhere that I went. Not the facade that each place pretended to represent or be about, but what these places really were. I think about these experiences and that’s what motivated me to start capturing moments in life. The real moments.
Ciara: My inspiration is giving someone a timeless piece. Something that can be passed down for generations to come who can show who people genuinely were, in that moment.
What do you hope audiences retain from your work?
Emotion, true emotion.
