Seeking the Creative: Alice Wong, Doll Maker
How would you describe your art in three words?
Whimsical, imaginative, playful.
Alice Wong custom makes dainty dolls that fit right in the palm of your hand, and bring back enchanting feelings from childhood. The artist from Alameda, California, began this craft back in 2017. Her creations have amassed into her own business, Wands and Willows, where she provides small figurines of wondrous favorites, from mini witches to charming fairies. Alice creates with the hope that these dolls with remind her customers of the magic within the world. She hopes to travel the world and share her artistry with wide audiences, showing them that there is no age requirement to appreciate the beauty and wonder of a doll.
Where/how do you gather inspiration?
My inspiration comes from nature, my travels and my 11 yr old daughter.
What do you hope audiences retain from your work?
That life can still be magical!
