Seeking the Creative: Yassin Boutayeb, Fashion Designer
How would you describe your art in three words?
Love, identity, appreciation for culture.
This is Yassin, the 22 year old founder of the fashion brand, YDIASPORA. The fashion student from Duesseldorf, Germany is an innovative and inspired young man, who holds a great passion for the blending of culture and identity through fashion expression. Yassin recognizes the cultural barriers society has built founded upon differences in our location, heritage, etc. The young visionary was determined to create a brand that breaks past these walls. The garments he designs represent diversity and create a sense of togetherness. Yassin is working on his company and designing clothes almost everyday, and does so with the intention that people will view his work and find a part of their identity in these layered, elaborate, and eye-catching garments.
Where/how do you gather your inspiration?
I gather inspiration from past cultural heritage with recent international trends and create something that mirrors the in-between-ness.
What do you hope audiences retain from your work?
I really hope people will be able to identify with my designs and feel seen in the first light.
