AMM NextGen Spotlight: A Conversation With Izzy Bisges
If you’re looking for a new content creator and storyteller, you’ve come to the right place.
Meet Izzy Bisges: a storyteller, entrepreneur, student, and content creator. With a growing audience of over 3,000 subscribers on YouTube, where she documents and uploads her life, and a whopping following of over 32,000 followers on TikTok, Izzy has become a comfort for viewers, where young people choose to romanticize life while on our journey of achieving our goals.
Izzy is completing her master’s degree in Entrepreneurship in the Fashion and Creative Industry at the Conde Nast College of Fashion & Design in London. After completing her study abroad program in London, she recently graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia’s Journalism program in 2022.
I recently had the privilege of chatting with Izzy as she joined me on a Zoom call from London, England. It is clear how ambitious and passionate she is towards her craft, whether that includes content creation on YouTube or her aspirations towards Fashion Entrepreneurship.
Even as a child, Izzy’s talent for storytelling and creation was strong. She created home movies where she would begin editing, telling stories, and producing videos. Izzy realized she had a voice to be heard as she began to create vlogs and document her life. This has translated into success on her YouTube channel, where she has a growing number of over 3,000 subscribers.
After her initial study abroad program was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Izzy was determined to study abroad in London and even pushed back her graduation date at UGA. “It changed the whole path of my life.” She explains how enthusiastic she was about returning in the future during her first week abroad. “I did just that. I loved it so much, applied to the master’s while I was out there to come back to London.”
A common theme on Izzy’s channel is how she makes the mundane moments in life feel special. Despite documenting vulnerable moments throughout her journey, she remains present in her videos as she explains how she cultivates gratitude for them. “It is all about perspective,” Izzy says. She added how social media platforms such as Instagram show only curated highlights of people’s lives rather than the reality of living. “Personally, for my brand and channel, I want to be as honest as possible without sacrificing myself as a person.” As she includes how privacy is important to her as well.
Izzy even opened up on her channel about her personal struggles, such as her Accutane journey, and explained how she wants to create a safe space for others and how it may help reach many others. This has most definitely worked in her favor, as she has received messages from viewers worldwide expressing gratitude for her honesty in speaking out. I love Izzy’s channel because of how honest and vulnerable she is. She creates her own moments of appreciation and romanticization of the world by acknowledging little moments like these. “I will take a pause if I see something beautiful. I’ll go get coffee and just say three things I’m grateful for”.
As an undergrad college student, I can feel the pressure of social media, as our timelines are filled with curated content and “that girl” trends. I asked Izzy how she stays motivated and genuine in a world full of curated social media content. She owed it to her foundational moral code and intuition regarding how she approached life.
Izzy explained how she has learned to balance her life and manage her time as a student, content creator, and human being in general. Izzy points out a color-coordinated iCalendar that allows her to be as reliable as possible towards her community, friends, and family.
Izzy shared her own advice to young aspiring people, “N.O. stands for the next opportunity.” She then explained how rejection in life will eventually lead to a yes. She explained how she faced discouraging moments and compared them to how many messages she received from grateful viewers. Izzy kindly touched on her own inspirations, such as Taylor Swift and Sara Blakely, the creator of Spanx, in terms of entrepreneurship and creativity outlets.
